While
incorporating aspects from a wide variety of influences, AHLEUCHATISTAS'
work consists mainly of meticulously composed instrumental rock music
performed with a very basic setup: guitar, bass, and drums. The timbre
of the group has been very consistent since the start, only changing
by degrees on a nuanced level. They chose to work with this limited
sonic pallette in order to force their inventiveness. How do you make
the sound of warped tape with a clean-toned electric guitar? How can
a bass sound like a bomb? Or un-effected drums sound like white noise?
AHLEUCHATISTAS' musical influences are very eclectic and to list them
seems superfluous. The group's aim is not to musically present their
influences by performing a collage of specific genre or artist references,
but rather to deepen the unique lyricism and rhythmic feel that they
have developed over the course of working together. That said, you
can probably guess at much of the music they love by listening to
their songs.
AHLEUCHATISTAS are currently working on a lot of new material for
2007, with at least one record scheduled to come out in September
on Cuneiform Records.
